Hejin Jinding Cultural Industry Development Co. Ltd. was initiated and established in 2011 by the Guinness double world record winner for “the world’s largest traditional Chinese paper-cutting artwork” and Yuncheng paper-cutting artist GAO Xiaodong. It is a comprehensive cultural company providing products of paper-cutting, calligraphy and painting, wood carving, and handicrafts.
The company won the “Special gold award for Master Skill Demonstration” in the first “Industrial Products Fair of Five Small Enterprises (starry)” in Shanxi (Yuncheng) in 2018. It is also the “Excellent Enterprise for Arts and Crafts” and “Base for Practice and Learning in Hejin County” which was awarded by the Association of Paper-cutting Artists of Shanxi Province. Its paper-cutting works have been certified by the Guinness World Records and the World Record Association. Also, they have been invited to participate in domestic and foreign industry exhibitions for cultural exchanges and have been widely recognized and enjoyed a high reputation. The company has received certificates of collection as well as thank-you letters from the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, the organizer of international cultural exchanges in Malaysia, Thailand and other related institutions, which promoted the exchange and cooperation of different cultures.
GAO Xiaodong and YAN Fang share the same interest and are relentless in the pursuit of art. They have participated in CCTV-3 “Departure to Happiness”, CCTV-7 “Township”, Tianjin TV “Knocking Happiness”, Zhejiang TV “China Dream Show” and the recording of Thailand TV programs. They have demonstrated their skills to the country and the whole world to promote the brand image of “Ancient China—New Yuncheng”, and promoted the local culture of Hedong. On behalf of the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government of Hejin County, the company’s paper-cutting works were presented to CCTV, Tajikistan, Germany, etc. The artworks of paper-cutting have also been exhibited in many expositions and conferences, such as World Cultural Industry Expo, China Tourism Expo, Tianjin International Cultural and Creative Fair and Shanxi International Cultural Industry Expo, etc. The paper-cutting artworks have been collected by individuals and institutions of Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Brunei, Iran, the United States, France. The couple of GAO Xiaodong, YAN Fang is very enthusiastic about public welfare. They often perform the skill of paper-cutting to children and teach them, which greatly promotes the inheritance and development of Chinese traditional culture. GAO Xiaodong, as vice president of the Association of Paper-cutting Artists of Shanxi Province and as president of the Yuncheng branch of the association, as well as vice president of Arts and Crafts Association of Yuncheng, together with a group of people from the association, actively participates in the selection of talents for municipal arts and crafts to ensure that the selection of talents is fair, just, open and authoritative.
In 2015, the paper-cutting work “Chinese Double Saints” participated in the international cultural exchange activities held in Malaysia and the company received a letter of appreciation from the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia; in 2016, paper-cutting works “Chinese Double Saints” and “Twenty-four Filial Exemplars” participated in the special paper-cutting exhibition of CPN China Year in Thailand; in 2017, paper-cutting works “Chinese Double Saints” in reduced size participated in the Third Shanxi Cultural Industry Expo and won the Silver Award of Arts and Crafts Excellences; in 2018, the “Chinese Double Saints” participated in the first Five Small Enterprises Industrial Products Expo Craft Master Skill Demonstration and won the Special Gold Award; in the same year, paper-cutting works such as “the Sacred Relics of Guan Gong” were invited again to Malaysia for international cultural exchange and participated in a special paper-cutting exhibition in the Golden Coast in answer to the invitation of Johor Bahru.
